Understand GBV
At Mojatu, we are committed to addressing the issue of gender-based violence (GBV), creating a society that is safe and inclusive for all. Together, we can build a world free from gender-based violence.
Understanding Gender-Based Violence:
Gender-based violence refers to any form of violence, physical, sexual, psychological, or economic, directed towards individuals based on their gender. It is rooted in unequal power dynamics, harmful stereotypes, and discrimination, affecting people of all genders, but primarily impacting women and girls. It is a violation of human rights and poses significant social, economic, and health consequences for individuals and communities.
The Impact of Gender-Based Violence
Gender-based violence has far-reaching effects, including;
-Individual Consequences: Survivors of GBV may experience physical injuries, psychological trauma, and long-lasting emotional scars. They often face difficulties in accessing education, employment, and healthcare services. GBV can also perpetuate a cycle of violence across generations.
-Societal Consequences: GBV hampers social and economic development by inhibiting the full participation of individuals in society. It reinforces gender inequalities, restricts human potential, and limits overall progress.
Our Initiatives
At Mojatu, we are committed to combating gender-based violence through our initiatives which include;
- Awareness and Education: We raise awareness about GBV, its causes, and consequences through community outreach programs, workshops, and public campaigns. We aim to challenge harmful gender norms and promote respectful relationships.
- Support Services: We provide a safe and confidential space for survivors of GBV, offering counselling, legal assistance, and referrals to essential services. Our team works to empower survivors, help them regain control over their lives, and promote healing.
- Advocacy and Policy Change: We advocate for policies and legal reforms that protect survivors, hold perpetrators accountable, and promote gender equality. Through working alongside policymakers, we strive toward change.
